DLO about Plastic Pollution

In inquiry we have been learning about plastic pollution. I learned that 260 million tons of plastic gets in the ocean. After we had learned about all the things we wanted to know about plastic pollution, we had to create a DLO about it. I found while making the DLO very easy because all I had to do it combine all the knowledge that I heard of and then put that all in the google slides.

This week in reading we have been learning about carnivorous plants, for the first day we had to fill out a KWL only on what we know and what we want to know about the topic. Then afterward i think we watched some videos describing carnivorous plants. Then we moved on to making a DLO about a specific Carnivorous plant that the teacher has shown us.

DLO about Land/soil pollution

 In Inquiry we have been learning about Land and soil pollution, and we were also getting close to finishing so the teacher had made us a google form about the things we learned about Land pollution and what was our favorite topic we learned about. After we filled the google form we had to make a DLO teaching someone about land pollution. My favorite part of Pollution air pollution because there are so many things going on in the world about this kind of pollution.

To inform Blue Whales

In writing we have been doing research about endangerd animals. Then after we did that we had to write a information report about one of the endangered animals that Miss McLeod had picked for us to use. I picked Blue Whales because I love how big and interesting they are. It took me about four days to write this because I was in Zones on Wednesday.

DLO about wasps and bees

This week in reading we have been reading all about bees and wasps. we started of with a KWL on what we know about wasps, then we read a book about them. Then we moved on to more things but we won't go there.                                                                                                                                                      Something new I found out about wasps is that they are can kill possums. While doing this activity for the week, I found it easy and hard at the same time. Here is my DLO I hope you like it.

Term 4 week 4 DLO

For the past few days in Maths we have been trying to solve this question.

We had to make a DLO about it explaining how you can solve this question, if you can't. While I was doing this activity I found it really easy because it was really simple yet quick to solve. Tip: If you are trying to solve a hard problem then highlight the information from the problem that could make it be solved faster. This DLO is a bit different then the one from last week, so it might be a little bit confusing.

Cause and effect water pollution - Inquiry

 In Inquiry today we looked at water pollution, Miss McLeod showed us a video to watch giving information on all the causes for water pollution. I also want to include things we can do to fix water pollution, because then we are making a big difference.  It would be a good thing if people actually started helping our water, because we could accidentally drink it and catch a disease, same for the fish but they would swim in it and they could become toxic, that way when we fish and we eat it we are eating more toxic chemicals. 

Then after we watched the video we filled a google drawing, were we needed to include things that cause water pollution and the reasons why.

DLO about Emperor Penguins

 A couple of days ago in reading we read a article about Emperor Penguins, then soon after we had to filled in a comprehension sheet about it. I got to learn a lot of things about emperor penguins and how they develop as they get older. Two days later we had to make a DLO about them. Good thing  I glued in the article or else I would not have much things to share in the DLO.

Term 4 week 2 DLO

For Math we now have a routine for what we have to do at math each week. The teacher will always have a problem for us to solve, the problem it for everyone to do. What I did in the holidays

 In the holidays I did nothing but sit down in the sofa and watch TV. But on Monday when the school holidays had started, me and my family went to Lake Tekapo. It was a long drive to get there but at the end it was defiantly worth it. In lake Tekapo we were like every other person, having a look and everything there was. When we went on the bridge I was so scared ( for some reason). Then we drove all the way to Oamaru which was 3 hours away ( it think). :)

P.E

 In P.E all the year 6 were playing quite a lot of games that were really fun. The first game I played was the Paper Scissors Rock, Shark and Islands and animal crossing. The one game I was really good at was the animal crossing one. It's were you you have to get across from one end to another in some sort of animal. E.g Duck, Bear, Crab etc. When we did the duck one I was really fast at it.

Similes

Hey readers!

In writing we have been learning all about similes, I love similes because I think that they are a creative way to describe a way of something. If you do not know what a simile is, then it is when you are comparing something to something else using words "like" or"as". The first thing we did is the teacher tough us what a simile was just encase we had not known or we had forgot. I already knew. Then when we finished we went on and we did the activity.

Wonder

Hey Readers!

In the past weeks of reading we have been reading a chapter book called wonder, I love the book it is about a boy named Augie who is a bit different then other children. His mum wanted him to join a school because he had been home schooled for a while. He wasn't happy with his mum but when he met some children he was good friends with them. Miss McLeod introduced us to wonder book cover creating thing so I did one and here it is. I will put a link up for you so you can try it as well.

To persuade

Hey readers!

In writing I have been adding our own opinions in our writing, we also teach people to persuade as well. We started by looking at some examples to help us know what we were going to write. Then the the teacher started writing the success criteria. Then when we looked at some examples the teacher printed out plans for us so we know what we were going to right. The next day and on we wrote each paragraph each day. So basically it was paragraph per day. Then when we were finished we had to self check, partner check and then teacher check. While I was doing this I found it challenging but from the help with my teacher it was great.

Wearing a helmet while riding a scooter should be compulsory!

Don’t you think children should wear a helmet while riding a scooter?

I strongly believe that children should wear a helmet while riding a scooter. It is dangerous.It can lead to serious injuries, sometimes even disabilities. It can also keep the head nice and warm so you won’t get fevers. Some helmets include a sun visor so children will not get blinded by the sun when they ride on their scooter (or bike).

Firstly, everyone should wear a helmet for their  own safety. Children are really delicate, and if their bones get broken it will lead to a serious injury consequence. Some disabilities can be permanent, so they might have to deal with it for the rest of their lives. A helmet is meant to protect your head, if you don’t wear one your head will not be protected. Because this is compulsory, everyone should wear a helmet while riding a scooter.

Secondly, It will  keep your head warm and dry when it rains, it will prevent you from getting a fever. It will help you see through the dark because some helmets have a light on the front of it that will help you see in the dark. If you start wearing a helmet right now you are going to be much safer. You will be better at riding a scooter as well, because you are going to be able to see better in the dark. Like I said if you do not wear a helmet while riding a scooter there will be serious consequences.

Finally, helmets are going to help you see through the day time when it is sunny. Some helmets include sun visors so you will be protected by the sun, you will never have to deal with the sun being in your face while you are riding your scooter. How handy is it when you are wearing a hat and a helmet at the same time? Isn’t it amazing? Not only is this helpful bit it is going to prevent you from getting into a crash. You're not going to be blinded by the sun ever again.

In conclusion, wearing a helmet while riding a scooter should be compulsory. If a helmet is not worn you will get hurt, you will get a cold and you will not be able to see in the day time when it’s sunny-dark. Remember, if a helmet is not worn then there will be serious consequences. If the helmet protects your head then they will definitely protect your life insurance, right?.

For Digital citizenship we have been learning about a digital footprint, the purpose of this is so we can keep ourselfs safe online. A digital footprint is a online footprint we all can have, we can post there consistently. But the main thing is that we keep each other safe online.
